Understanding Female Reproductive System

The Female Reproductive System

The main organs and structures in the reproductive system are:

The uterus or womb is a major female reproductive (pear-shaped) organ located between the bladder and lower intestine. It consists of two parts, the body and the cervix. The uterus is connected to the fallopian tubes, the cervix, and (via the cervix) the vagina. The uterus nourishes and protects the fetus until birth.

The cervix is the lower part of the uterus. It has a canal opening into the vagina with an opening called the OS which allows menstrual blood to flow out of the uterus into the vagina. It is approximately four centimeters long, approximately half of which extends into the vaginal canal; however, the length of the cervix can be affected by age and childbirth, along with individual (genetic) variations. The inner lining of the uterus is called the endometrium. During pregnancy, it thickens and becomes enriched with blood vessels to house and support the growing fetus. If pregnancy does not occur, the endometrium is shed as part of the menstrual flow. Menstrual flow also consists of blood and mucus from the cervix and vagina.

Fertilization is the process when a sperm and egg join together, and the genes from both the parents combine to form a new life. To understand fertilization, a woman needs to know about fertility window. The so-called “fertile window” is 6 days long and starts 5 days before ovulation and ends the day of ovulation.

Ovulation is when a mature egg is released from the ovary, pushed down the fallopian tube, and is available to be fertilized. Approximately every month an egg will mature within one of your ovaries. This process results in conception about 80 percent of couples.

Reproduction is inadequate by the phases of female fertility. As per studies, only 15% conceive within a month of their first attempts, however, and about 60% succeed after 6 months. If there are problems in female reproductive system then pregnancy becomes a far -away dream. If the serious problem occurs, it leads to infertility in some cases.
