Several medications are given including follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs and monitor their progress through ultrasound and imaging blood tests.

Egg Retrieval

When the follicles are mature i.e eggs are matured, the powerful anesthesia medications are given while your fertility doctor retrieves the eggs by using a fine needle.


The male is asked to produce a sample of sperm, which are mixed together with the eggs and stored in the laboratory to encourage fertilization.

Embryo Transfer

Under ultrasound guidance, the embryos or the fertilized eggs are usually transferred into the woman’s uterus three to five days following egg retrieval and fertilization
